這是一個淡淡然而又感動、振奮人心的好人好事的故事。張家安，一個與母親住在天水圍的應屆會考生，他於一個單親家庭長大，與母親相依為命。他的生活與一般中學生無異，成績不太優秀但卻沒有學壞，而且更會聽從母親的說話。張母雖然是單親媽媽、獨力把兒子養大，卻從不自怨自艾，反而積極工作，她在超級市場的生果檔工作，敬業樂業。而她和她母親、弟弟一家雖然不是常常見面，看似不太熟絡，但原來是張母年少時把努力工作賺來的錢來供兩個弟弟到外國升學。因此，張母姊弟間感情深厚，安亦得舅父們疼錫。梁歡，一個獨居老人，與安和安母住在天水圍屋邨內同一幢大廈；她本在邨內街市賣生果，後來到安母的超級市場的菜檔工作。她與安母素未謀面，但安母卻和她鄰里間互相幫助，因此成為朋友。  張家安、安母和梁歡，與香港大部份人一樣，過著平凡而看似刻板的生活，但從他們的生活片段當中可看出人情味。而他們所住、生活的天水圍，雖然有時會被人認為是一個「悲情城市」，但其實可能只是受一些偶然發生的事件影響；這個故事，把天水圍的另一面反映出來，除了悲情，其實天水圍亦有溫情的一面.

This is a nonchalant story of decent folks living in an isolated "new" town distanced by poverty.Onn is a high school graduate, the only child of widowed Kwai, who lives and studies in Tin Shui Wai, a new town bordering China and remote by Hong Kong standard. He is no wise kid with flying colors but he grew up with keen awareness of what his mother has been up against in defense of their family of two.   Kwai is the kind who throws her despair behind and never dodges what it takes to move on in work and life. She works in a supermarket, actually a neighborhood grocery, at very limited salary, and that keeps her from the costly family gatherings which she could barely afford. But behind their infrequent encounters Kwai has a pair of caring brothers who owe their education to a sister who truncated her schooling to make money for the family's future.   Leung is poor, old, and living by herself at the same block with Kwai. She can't keep up with the work at the wet market, so she opts for the lighter toil at the supermarket along Kwai. The two, under the spell of similar fate, become friends.  The three of them live lives that are hardly inspiring, and so are the billions of souls inhabiting this planet throughout the millennia. But that doesn't keep them from warming themselves to the love and care they mutually emanate. And there they are, in that bedeviled town which the local media loves to depict as a living hell of poverty and despair, fully aware of their limitations as well as the joy of living together.
